Your data, handled the way we'd want ours handled.
How Survival Mastery collects, uses, shares, and protects your information — in plain language.
Overview.
Survival Mastery, Inc. ("Survival Mastery," "we," "us," or "our") operates the online streaming and membership platform at https://survivalmastery.co, providing practical skills education focused on self-reliance and preparedness.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights and choices you have. It applies to our website, our membership platform, and the services we provide both to individual members and to the schools, youth programs, and organizations we partner with.
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for marketing or any other commercial purpose. If you access Survival Mastery through your school, employer, or another organization, please also read the "Institutional and Multi-Tenant Access" section below, because that organization may control how your data is handled.
Information we collect.
We collect only what we need to run the platform, deliver your training, process your membership, and keep the service secure.
Account and membership information
When you create an account, start a free trial, or purchase a membership, we collect the information you provide — typically your name, email address, and account password. Free trials require only your name and email; no payment card is requested for a trial.
Payment information
Paid memberships are processed by our third-party payment processor. Your card details are entered directly with that processor and are used to complete your transaction. We do not store your full card number on our systems. See "Payments" below.
Learning activity
As you use the platform, we collect information about your course progress, completions, and activity so we can save your place, track your learning, and improve the service.
Forms and communications
When you contact us, submit an inquiry, apply through our Careers page, or subscribe to a newsletter, we collect the information you enter in that form and any messages you send us.
Article comments
If you leave a comment on one of our articles, we collect the information shown in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user-agent string to help with spam detection. If you opt in, your name, email, and website may be saved in cookies for your convenience so you do not have to re-enter them next time.
Technical information
Like most websites, we automatically collect certain technical data such as IP address, browser type, device information, and general usage information through cookies and similar technologies. If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email as a security measure.
How we use it.
We use the information we collect to operate and improve Survival Mastery. Specifically, to:
- Create and manage your account, membership, or free trial
- Deliver course content and save your learning progress
- Process payments and manage renewals and cancellations
- Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
- Send you the newsletters and service communications you've asked for
- Keep the platform secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and detect spam
- Understand how the platform is used so we can improve it
- Meet our legal, accounting, and regulatory obligations
We do not use your personal information for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.
Payments.
Paid memberships are billed through our membership system and processed by our third-party payment processor.
When you enter your payment details at checkout, they are transmitted directly to our payment processor over an encrypted connection. That processor operates on PCI-DSS Level 1 certified infrastructure. We receive confirmation of your transaction and limited billing details needed to manage your membership, but we do not store your full payment card number on our own systems. The processor handles your payment data under its own privacy policy and security standards.
Cookies and tracking.
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, secure the platform, and understand usage. You control non-essential cookies through our consent banner.
When you first visit, our cookie consent tool lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies, in line with GDPR and CCPA requirements. Essential cookies needed to run the site and keep you signed in are always active. You can change your choices at any time through the consent controls on the site.
Login and session cookies
If you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies; it contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we set cookies to save your login and display choices. Login cookies last for two days and screen-option cookies for a year; choosing "Remember Me" extends your login for two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies.
Bot protection
Some of our forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA to prevent spam and abuse. Its use is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Video and embedded content.
Course videos and some articles include content delivered by third parties.
Our course videos are delivered through a third-party video platform, configured to limit tracking where possible. Articles on the site may also include embedded content such as videos, images, or posts from other websites. Embedded content from other websites behaves as if you had visited that other website directly — those sites may collect data about you, set their own cookies, and monitor your interaction with that content, including if you are logged in to them.
AI features.
Where Survival Mastery offers AI-assisted features, we run them under strict data-protection terms.
AI features operate under enterprise no-training and zero-data-retention terms: your data is never used to train AI models, and inference is session-scoped. AI does not make or influence certification decisions, mandatory training completion status, or credentialing outcomes — those remain with you and, where applicable, with your organization.
Institutional and multi-tenant access.
If you use Survival Mastery through a school, youth program, employer, or other organization, some of the rules are different.
Survival Mastery uses tenant-isolated architecture: each partner organization runs on a separate installation with a separate database, and there is no cross-tenant data sharing. Where you access the platform through such an organization, that organization may act as the controller of your personal data and its own privacy policy may also apply. Requests to access, correct, or delete data managed by your organization may need to be directed to them. We handle institutional data under the terms of our agreements with each organization.
Data retention.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it.
We retain your account and membership information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically. For registered users, we store the information in the user profile, which you can see, edit, or delete at any time (you cannot change your username). We retain some information longer where we are obliged to for legal, accounting, security, or dispute-resolution purposes.
Your rights.
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data. We honor these rights for all our users.
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you, including data you provided
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete
- Request that we erase personal data we hold about you
- Export your data in a portable format
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link
Erasure does not extend to information we are required to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. California residents: please also see our separate California Privacy Notice.
International and regional notices.
Survival Mastery serves members and partners in multiple regions, and we build our data practices to meet the standards those regions require.
We process personal data in line with the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and, for our Gulf-region operations, the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL). For organizations operating across jurisdictions, we support configurable data residency. If your information is transferred across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected consistent with this policy and applicable law.
Security.
Protecting your information is foundational to how the platform is built, not an afterthought.
We run on enterprise-grade hosting infrastructure and protect data in transit and at rest using industry-standard encryption. Access is controlled and tenant data is isolated at the database level. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we work continuously to protect your information. In the event of a personal data breach, we follow documented incident-response procedures and aim to notify affected parties within 72 hours of discovery, consistent with applicable law.
Children's privacy.
Our direct-to-consumer service is intended for adults.
The Survival Mastery consumer platform is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through it. Where minors participate through a school or youth program, that participation is arranged and managed by the partner organization under our agreements with them, including applicable youth-protection and parental-consent requirements. If you believe a child has provided us personal information directly, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
Third-party links.
Our site and communications may link to websites we don't operate.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party websites. When you follow a link to another site, we encourage you to read that site's privacy policy.
Changes to this policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of Survival Mastery after an update means you accept the revised policy.
